I've just finished reading Eddie's book - absolutely brilliant!! It's a MUST read for any MA instructor - or, indeed, ANY teacher. Having met Eddie when he started teaching my (then) young son, I have had the privilege of being one of Eddies' students for 20 years. For many of those I have been one of Eddie's instructors, assisting him with his Childsafe classes and gradings and with various adult seminars, both in the UK and abroad. What struck me most about this gem of a book is that whilst I was reading it, it was just like listening to Eddie teaching - what he has written is exactly how he teaches - from the heart and with total commitment!! A brilliant guide.

This short handbook is good advice for teaching in general. You can use it for martial arts training, for teaching students in university or at home for your kids. I already used some of these tips in university when I was teaching students electrical engineering basics or in German Ju-Jutsu classes. The advice could be summed up as follows: be yourself, be respectful and be attentive to the needs of the people you teach. The best reward for a teacher is that your students love to follow your path and come back with questions years after your classes. From my point of view, Eddie gives all the advice you need for being such a teacher. Thanks for the great compilation!

Although I don't teach a Martial art and it is more a hobby than a way of life for me , I found this handbook to be fantastic, I do train people at work and so much of the handbook is applicable to how we should treat people in general when under our tutoring

Wisdom is distilled into this volume. It's flexible, straight to the point and easy to digest. Eddie's guidelines go beyond the classroom and into communication and relationships in our daily lives. These are truly valuable lessons and the book is an easy read. Written by a brilliant teacher, who has clearly ran the gauntlet, sharing his wisdom from decades as a professional teacher; to a multitude of students from children to military personnel. Highly valuable, enjoyable, I highly recommend!

Wow. Well written, systematic, informative and oozes Eddie's passion, philosophy and style of teaching. A must have for all martial arts (and other life disciplines too) teachers. Have incorporated many of the action steps presented in my own classes, and the energy is overflowing.

There are many Martial Arts instructors, but when it comes to translating realistic and straight forward training, Eddie really is the best at what he does.
